When to Consider Migrating
Common reasons to switch hosts include: slow loading speeds, frequent downtime, poor customer support, outgrowing your current plan's resources, or finding a better deal elsewhere. Before migrating, ensure your new host offers equal or better features. Many hosts offer free migration services for new customers — always ask.
Using Your Host's Free Migration
Many hosting companies offer free migration as a sign-up incentive. SiteGround, Cloudways, and others have dedicated migration teams. Simply sign up for your new hosting plan, submit a migration request with your current hosting login details, and their team handles everything. This is the easiest and safest option.
Manual Migration with a Plugin
If free migration isn't available, install the 'All-in-One WP Migration' plugin on your current site, export your entire site to a file, set up WordPress on your new host, install the same plugin there, and import the file. Once verified, update your domain's nameservers to point to your new host. Keep your old hosting active for at least a week after migration to ensure everything transferred correctly.
