Title Tags: Your Most Important SEO Element
Your title tag (the clickable headline in search results) is the single most important on-page SEO factor. Include your target keyword near the beginning, keep it under 60 characters, and make it compelling enough that people want to click. Format: 'Primary Keyword — Supporting Context | Blog Name'. Every page on your site needs a unique title tag — duplicates confuse search engines.
Meta Descriptions That Drive Clicks
Your meta description appears below the title in search results. While it's not a direct ranking factor, a compelling description increases your click-through rate (which is a ranking factor). Write 150–155 characters that include your keyword, clearly describe what the reader will learn, and include a subtle call to action. Think of it as a mini-advertisement for your content.
Heading Structure and Internal Linking
Use one H1 tag per page (your post title), H2s for main sections, and H3s for subsections. Include your keyword in at least one H2. Add 2–5 internal links per post pointing to your other relevant content — this helps search engines discover your pages and keeps readers on your site longer. Also include 1–2 external links to authoritative sources, which signals to Google that your content is well-researched.
