Installing Your Chosen Theme

Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New in your WordPress dashboard. Search for your theme by name (we recommend Astra, GeneratePress, or Kadence). Click Install, then Activate. For premium themes, download the .zip file from the developer, go to Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme, select the file, and install. Some premium themes also require a licence key — enter this under the theme's settings.

Setting Up Your Brand Identity

Navigate to Appearance → Customize and set your primary brand colour (used for links, buttons, and accents), your secondary colour, and your text colours. Choose your typography — a clean sans-serif font like Inter or Open Sans works well for body text. Upload your logo if you have one, or use the text-based site title for now. Set your header and footer layouts. Configure your blog post layout (we recommend a clean, single-column design for readability).

Creating Essential Pages

Create these pages from Pages → Add New: Home (your main landing page), About (your story and credentials), Contact (with a contact form), Privacy Policy (legally required — WordPress has a built-in generator under Settings → Privacy), and Blog (set this as your posts page under Settings → Reading). Set your Home page as the static front page and your Blog page as the posts page.
